The Manchester Luncheon Club was founded in February 1922 "to afford opportunities for social intercourse to those interested in the Commerce, University and other activities in the City".

This does not mean of course that we restrict ourselves merely to topics of local concern, as a glance at the list of PAST SPEAKERS will show, though we do take a particular interest in new developments in the City and the surrounding areas.

We meet once a month, usually at the Freemasons’ Hall in Manchester. Most meetings follow the pattern of a formal lunch, which is of an excellent standard, after which we hear a talk by an eminent speaker, but we do have meetings where we visit particular places of interest – for instance, our recent visits to Tissington in Derbyshire famous for its well-dressing, to the refurbished Manchester Art Gallery, a guided tour of the Manchester Museum and lunch at Manchester's renowned Yang Sing restaurant.

There is no set day or date in the month for our meetings, since this depends on the availability of the speaker, but we always meet on a weekday at lunchtime. Please see our PROGRAMME for details of forthcoming events.
